Our rehabilitation Department is staffed with highly skilled physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech/language pathologists. Our therapists communicate regularly with the patient’s physician. They will perform evaluations, planning treatment programs, educate and supervise patients and their family. Per the patient’s physician, our highly qualified therapists utilize appropriate modalities to initiate care.
Physical Therapy:
This type of treatment has been proven effective by using physical activity, exercise, massage and other treatments that help the patient to build strength, healing or to help relieve pain. This type of treatment is effective for any one who has suffered any type of pain due to an illness, injury or an operation including arthritis, join pain, joint replacements, soft tissue injuries, chronic pain syndromes, gait disorders, stroke, head injuries, Parkinson’s, MS and more.
In addition to providing treatments to patients, the therapist will also work with the patient’s family to come up with a plan of action to maximize the rehabilitation process.
Occupational Therapy:
The goal of the occupational therapist is to help the patient gain a functional independence within the confines of their own home. Additionally, they will help increase the patient’s knowledge of treatment techniques to help with their prescribed conditions. Occupational therapy is effective for patients suffering from: neurological disorders, stroke, visual impairments, joint replacements, arthritis, amputation, head injuries, spinal cords, post traumatic injuries, fractures, and developmental delays. The therapist will help with instruction in activities related to daily living tasks, home safety assessment, educating for neurologically impaired clients, instruction in joint protection, wheelchair assessments, caregiver education and more.
Speech Therapist:
Our Speech Pathologists specialize in evaluating and treating issues relating to swallowing, cognition/thinking skills and various community disorders. The Pathologist will improve the patient’s quality of life by helping them to regain the ability to eat and swallow. Additionally, they can help increase communication skills which increases independence. By working inside of the home, the therapist can individualize their treatment.
