Starting the Conversation

It can be difficult to know when and how to start conversations about hospice care or advanced care planning. At Assured Hospice, we’ve helped many families navigate these important discussions with honesty and compassion. We understand that peace of mind comes when families reach a place of understanding, clarity and emotional readiness.

When Is It Time for Hospice?

Frequent Hospitalizations

If your loved one has expressed concerns about repeated hospital visits or wants to avoid going back and forth, it may be time to consider hospice care.

Comfort at Home

Hospice can help keep your loved one comfortable in their preferred setting, whether that's at home or another location.

Palliative Care

Hospice is focused on comfort and quality of life when regular medical treatments are no longer effective.

Hospice care provides relief from symptoms and focuses on the personal, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients and families as they prepare for the end of life. We’re here to guide you through every step of the journey.

Support

Support For Family & Friends

Caring for a loved one with a terminal prognosis can be emotionally and physically exhausting for family, friends, and caregivers. Hospice care is designed to ease that burden by providing a strong support network, ensuring that both patients and their loved ones are not alone during the dying and grieving process.

Our hospice services also include up to one year of bereavement support for families and friends, offering counseling and spiritual care to help navigate the challenges that follow a loved one’s passing.

Arranging Final Wishes

Discussing advanced directives and resuscitation wishes can be incredibly difficult and emotional for both patients and their families. Even when a family member holds Power of Attorney or is designated as the Patient Advocate, making the decision to sign a Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) form can be challenging.

It’s important to know that hospice patients are not required to have a DNR in place. However, if a DNR is not signed, all life-saving measures must be taken if the patient’s heart stops, including CPR, ventilation, and potentially contacting paramedics.

Ultimately, quality of life is key, and resuscitation can have significant physical consequences, even for those in otherwise good health.

Hospice care provides relief from symptoms and focuses on the personal, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients and families as they prepare for the end of life. We’re here to guide you through every step of the journey.

financial

paying for hospice & What Does It Cover

Hospice care includes more than just a compassionate team—it also covers the essentials. Medicare and Medicaid fully cover hospice services, including medications, durable medical equipment, and incontinence supplies related to the hospice diagnosis. That means your care team may include a nurse, home health aide, social worker, chaplain, and more—all at no cost to you.
